Meghan Kelly: Knitwear Designer
As a textile designer and fabric lover, I am always investigating the cloth I encounter in the world. I am a designer of hand- and machine- knits and spend my free time exploring the craft. I am deeply interested in the advances the textile industry is making in weft knitted fabrics, smart textiles, and sustainability solutions for a culture plagued by fast fashion and extreme consumerism.
I am proud to be an Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University, where I serve as the primary knitting professor for undergraduates and graduates.
In 2014, I received a Master of Science from Philadelphia University, where I focused on machine knitting and knit design. My deep dive into knitting techniques only made me love the knitted stitch even more.
I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Kansas City Art Institute, double-majoring in Fine Arts and Art History. My Fine Art studies were focused on fibers and textiles. There I learned to knit, weave, dye, embroider, felt, and manipulate fiber in a myriad of other ways. My undergraduate education laid the groundwork for a lifetime obsession with anything and everything related to textiles.
